Metadata research is a pluri-disciplinary field that encompasses all aspects of the definition, creation, assessment, management and use of metadata. The interest on those research topics related to metadata and the intention of congregating international researchers in the field and the results of their works, was the germ of the First on-Line Conference on Metadata and Semantics Research (MTSR’2005), held from 21 to 30 November 2005.
